OAK Community Update - March

Open Arms Kington is very grateful to Kington Court Nursing Home for naming OAK their fundraising cause of the year! We’re looking forward to the Easter Celebration at Kington Court at 11am on 16th April when the community will join with the residents, staff, and friends of Kington Court—along with some farm animals—to celebrate the arrival of spring and take part in a fundraising raffle. This event is open to the local community, but please RSVP ahead of attending by contacting 01544 232333, or emailing at admin.kingtoncourt@rotherwood-group.co.uk

The support of Kington Court is crucial to our fundraising campaign, which will help support our final stage application to The National Lottery Heritage Fund later this year and ensure that The Oxford Arms will reopen as a vibrant community hub, serving the Kington community for decades to come. Indeed, all the local fundraising we do is crucial, not only because every donation helps toward our target, but also because local fundraising means more than just money to fund the project. The Heritage Fund recognises that small, local donations are significant because they represent a vote of confidence in what OAK is doing from the local community. In this way, smaller, local donations become as important as the big donations we’re seeking from charitable trusts and foundations, and anything you can spare to donate to help reopen The Oxford will be received with enormous gratitude!

There are several ways that you can donate:

The OAK 100 Club

Members of our 100 Club have been crucial supporters for over two years. The 100 Club works on a simple principle: members pay £10 a month to take part. Every month, one lucky winner scoops the £200 jackpot. All funds raised go direct to the renovation works. Click on the button below to learn more!

Donate items for OAK to sell at the Community Shop

OAK will once again take over the Kington Community Shop from 22nd-27th April, and your donations of items will be gratefully accepted up to 21st April! Drop off items whenever we’re open, or get in touch with us at info@openarmskington.co.uk to discuss a time to drop things off.

Direct donations in our collection jars at The Oxford

Donations by cash and card are always welcome! Many of our events and activities now operate on a “payment by donation” basis. All these donations go toward our fundraising appeal, so please be generous!

We’ll soon be installing a new banner on the side of The Oxford tracking our progress toward our fundraising target—keep an eye out on Duke Street! Meanwhile, watch this space for additional updates on the fundraising campaign and project progress. We hope to be able to share some big pieces of news in the coming months.
